Canine Good Citizen (CGC) – 6-Week Class
Build a well-mannered dog and strengthen your teamwork!... Canine Good Citizen (CGC) – 6-Week Class
Build a well-mannered dog and strengthen your teamwork! Our 6-week Canine Good Citizen (CGC) class is designed to help dogs and their handlers develop the practical skills needed for polite, confident behavior at home and out in the community.
Throughout the six weeks, we’ll work on the skills included in the AKC Canine Good Citizen test, including accepting a friendly stranger, sitting politely for petting, grooming and handling, walking nicely on leash, moving through a crowd, sit/down/stay, coming when called, appropriate reactions to other dogs and distractions, and supervised separation.
This class is a great next step for dogs who already have basic obedience skills and are ready to practice good manners around real-world distractions.
The CGC test will be given at the end of the six-week class, giving each dog and handler the opportunity to earn their Canine Good Citizen title/certificate.
Whether you're working toward the CGC credential or simply want a calmer, more reliable companion, this class provides structured practice, guidance, and plenty of opportunities to build confidence as a team.
Length: 6 weeks
Final Week: Canine Good Citizen Testing
Recommended for: Dogs with basic obedience skills who are comfortable working around people and other dogs
