Hey, you! Pay attention! Do you find yourself begging your dog for their attention? Is your dog more interested in other dogs and the environment than you? This class is for you! Whether your dog is a puppy, an adult dog that's new to your home, or a dog you've had for years, let's teach your dog that paying attention and focusing on you is the best thing in the world!
These skills are useful in all aspects of your dog's life. They'll be able to gain confidence in new environments, stay focused on you even when other dogs are being exciting, walk down hallways past other dogs, ignore judges and bar setters, and get comfortable with other people being near and interacting with them.
Your dog will get lots of treats in this class, please plan ahead for this and bring an open mind. Please bring your dog on an empty stomach so that they can partake. You'll want to bring many small, high value treats such as sharp or smoked cheese, sausage, freeze dried fish, etc. Additionally, bring along water and a kennel/mat for your dog to take breaks in.
Prerequisites: Dogs must be at least 3 months old by the start of class. Knowing the concept of a release word will be helpful, but isn't required. This class is not for reactive or aggressive dogs. Dogs must be able to rest quietly nearby other dogs and be under control (no barking/lunging) when other dogs are active nearby.
Agility Foundations (Formerly Agility 1 for Puppies and Dogs)
This class covers the foundations needed for the exciting sport of agility. A successful agility team starts with a strong relationship between dog and handler. This relationship is the focal point for communicating and teaching the skills needed for each of the obstacles. Whether a first time agility handler or an experienced handler starting a new dog, the games, body awareness and skills taught in this class establish the foundation for success. Like all of our classes, we hand pick our instructors for teaching this very important class which is the "foundation" for success in Agility.
Prerequisites: Puppies/Dogs should be at least 12-weeks-old & have a sit stay. While we keep our class size small, all dogs must be comfortable in the presence of other dogs & people.
Those that have taken Intro to K9 Sports will receive priority registration for this class.
*If the class you want is full, please register for the Email/Wait List for that class level. You will be notified of the upcoming session or in the chance there is a cancellation.

Ready? This Extreme Weaves class is for those teams that wish to work on the toughest of weave entries. We will look at how to grow or strengthen reliable weaves regardless of the handlers motion (or lack there of!). In addition to weekly training information, we will work sequences leading up to these entrances so dogs will not be working weaves for the full hour. Be ready to move & have fun!
Prerequisites: 2 Masters/Elite legs & a reliable sit/say
H. Weave Pole Foundation for Independent Weaves (Odie) $150.00
Learn how to create a foundation to achieve independent weave poles! Don't let your dog train you how to handle weave poles, but instead, teach your dog to do its job while you have the freedom to get into position for the next obstacle. We will use channel weaves and guide wires for the entire duration of the session. A Treat and Train is needed and dogs must be used to it. If sufficient progress is made, we will transition to a toy that can be tossed, with or without a treat inside.
For best results, practice between classes is strongly recommended, so access to channel weaves and guide wires will be key to achieve success. You will receive one free 30 minute Odie ring time that can be used any time up to 30 days after class ends. Odie can be rented additional times to practice with the channel weaves and guide wires that are kept there.
Prerequisites: Dogs must be 12 months or older. Dogs must have taken our weaves class or have prior instructor approval and have taken Agility Skills. You must bring your own Treat and Train and dog must be used to it.
Serious about starting your weave pole training?
The channel & guide wire method to teaching weaves is used all over the world by serious competitors, who strive for independent motivated weaves!
The channel method requires regular access to 24" channel weave poles, in order to get the channels closed, and the guides off. The method does require immersion, and should not be started until you know you can dedicate the time to practice a minimum of once a day for at least 3 weeks. . Keep in mind, every dog learns at a different rate and has a different training history with its handler.
When your ready to get your weaves trained, this is the class & method for you!
With the class you will receive:* 1 hour weekly small-group lessons * 1 - 30 minute ring time session in Odie(can be scheduled via our on line scheduler). This free session is non-refundable if not used, but can be used up to 30 days after the class ends.
There is a LOT of training time needed between your scheduled weekly classes and your instructor will give you homework to work on. The Odie arena here at CSZ is set up so you can schedule weave training time if you do not have access to channel weaves at home. As the independent training time for this and the teeter class is high, we do not recommend taking the Weaves and Teeter classes in the same session.
Prerequisites: Dogs over 1 year & must be current CSZ students in Agility Skills or higher level.
It is very helpful and speeds the dogs understanding if they are driven by toys or will chase toys that enclose food like a lotus ball.
A $10/clean up fee is in effect for soiling on the turf at all times.
This class’s focus is designed to learn and maintain the higher level skills.
