Hey, you! Pay attention! Do you find yourself begging your dog for their attention? Is... Hey, you! Pay attention! Do you find yourself begging your dog for their attention? Is your dog more interested in other dogs and the environment than you? This class is for you! Whether your dog is a puppy, an adult dog that's new to your home, or a dog you've had for years, let's teach your dog that paying attention and focusing on you is the best thing in the world!
These skills are useful in all aspects of your dog's life. They'll be able to gain confidence in new environments, stay focused on you even when other dogs are being exciting, walk down hallways past other dogs, ignore judges and bar setters, and get comfortable with other people being near and interacting with them.
Your dog will get lots of treats in this class, please plan ahead for this and bring an open mind. Please bring your dog on an empty stomach so that they can partake. You'll want to bring many small, high value treats such as sharp or smoked cheese, sausage, freeze dried fish, etc. Additionally, bring along water and a kennel/mat for your dog to take breaks in.
Prerequisites: Dogs must be at least 3 months old by the start of class. Knowing the concept of a release word will be helpful, but isn't required. This class is not for reactive or aggressive dogs. Dogs must be able to rest quietly nearby other dogs and be under control (no barking/lunging) when other dogs are active nearby.
