Introduction to Scent Detection – Competition Prep
Focus = Foundation skills for CKC and SDDA scent detection
Prerequisites = Good... Focus = Foundation skills for CKC and SDDA scent detection
Prerequisites = Good Manners 1 or equivalent (i.e. Able to work
comfortably in class environment, basic manners skills)
Core skills developed = Introducing odours, building search skills,
container discrimination (blank vs. odour), foundation of formal alert
skill
Goals by graduation = Dog recognizes cocktail odour, basic
understanding of container searches (6 containers with 1 hide) +
rudimentary area searches, beginnings of formal alert
