Puppy PLUS is different from traditional puppy classes:
Open enrollment. You can start any week that has an open spot and continue for six consecutive weeks.
Each of the self-contained weekly lessons is designed to address socialization, skills and the value of calm behavior and self-control for your pup!
Different topics for each week. We will cover lessons about the home environment and visitors, manners in the kitchen, vet care and grooming, children and dogs, going for a walk, and safety.
Become a great walking team and enjoy your outings together.
(This class addresses loose leash walking. If you are experiencing reactivity with your dog, please check out our Chill! class for Reactive Dogs instead. )

Details: All locations will be in or within 15 minutes of Chardon.
Although the class is held outside, all our policies for group classes will apply. Dogs must be 6 months or older and fully vaccinated. Completion of our Leash Manners or Mind Your Manners 1 class is also required. Dogs must be reasonably relaxed around other dogs.

Do you want to know how smart your dog really is? This six-week class explores that question. Masterminds! is for advanced learners only. Different than a tricks class, it was developed to tap deeply into your dog’s cognitive abilities. You will use a clicker to teach your dog things like reading simple words, recognizing and selecting items by a given name, selecting items by color or shape, and copying your actions to learn a new behavior.
Want to help others and spend more time with your dog? Therapy work is so gratifying for you and your dog.
This class is for advanced students. If you are not sure if your dog is ready, please reach out and we will help.
Our Trick for Treats class was developed for the pleasure of dog training. It will challenge you to become a better dog trainer as you use capturing and shaping to put skills to the test. This class will be excellent to create a stronger, more joyful bond between you and your dog. We are offering testing throughout the year to give you a chance to earn Trick Dog Titles and bragging rights.
Book our training center for an hour with your dog.
The room is large, has dog friendly flooring, and is climate controlled. A non-fenced outdoor potty area is available for the dogs. An office person will be in the center during use but will stay behind a closed door unless needed.
We are proud to keep the center safe even for young puppies who are not fully vaccinated, yet. Current vet records are strictly required to guarantee that safety. Records can be emailed to info@coldnosecompanions.com anytime before the visit.
We are experienced with and compassionate to reactive dogs. If your dog is sensitive, please indicate during booking and we will take precautions not to disturb them.
Chill! work sessions are for anybody who has worked with us on reactivity before and would like to keep going. Set up like our Chill! class, we will revisit and further practice our skills being around other dogs.
How boring would life be if we never got to read, watch TV, or explore new things? Dogs crave enrichment just as we do. In this session we will explore some enrichment activities and share ideas that you could try at home.
Let's enjoy the spooky season with some outdoor fun! We will meet at the Great Blue Heron Lodge at the Rookery. Bring your dog (and your family?) in costume!
All registered participants will be entered into a raffle and get a chance to win a gift basket which includes a $100 gift certificate for services with Cold Nose Companions.
In this Pop Up! session we will help you trouble shoot and refresh your basic loose leash walking skills that you have learned in a class or session with us. If you think, you need a quick tune up for this skill, this is the session for you.
(If you are trying to build this skill for the first time, we recommend signing up for our Leash Manners or Mind Your Manners 1 class instead.)
In this Pop Up! session you and your dog will create a beautiful painting together. All supplies are provided and of course you will get to take your art home. The painting technique will be completely safe for your dog.
In this Pop Up! session we will take you outside for a food sniffari-scavenger hunt at a local park (weather permitting). Did you know that dogs work much harder when sniffing then walking? A sniffing dog is a happy dog!
And of course, if the weather is not playing along, we will meet in the training center instead.
Wouldn't it be so nice if you didn't have to struggle with your dog to trim their nails? Learn how to teach your dog to use a Scratch board to file their own nails - no stress and no medication required. Our scratchboards can accommodate dogs of any size.
This is a session on canine body language. Learn what your dog is trying to tell you and how to read your dogs mood. Develop a better and safer relationship through better communication. These sessions are always free for current veterinary staff and shelter staff and volunteers. If you belong to one of these groups and would like to sign up, please let us know.
