Bath - On dogs, I use a deep cleaning shampoo and deshedding conditioner on the body. On cats, I use a feline friendly shampoo. I use a tearless soap on all faces and make sure to provide a little massage if they enjoy it!
Ear Cleaning - I use a probiotic ear cleaner to rinse out the ear canal, then wipe down the ear itself with a cotton pad.
Anal Gland Expression - Most pets need this done every few months. It can be uncomfy for a few seconds, but they are much more comfortable in the long run when this is done regularly.
Blow Dry - I use a high velocity dryer that helps loosen undercoat and makes the brushing process less painful.
Nail Clipping - I use a combination of nail clippers and a sanding dremel to get as close to the quick as possible without causing pain.
Brushing/Deshedding - I typically use any combination of a slicker brush, undercoat rake, and equigroomer to remove undercoat and untangle your pet's hair before trimming.
Haircut/Trim - Most double coated dogs just need a sanitary and paw trim. Some dogs need to be shaved periodically, but I always leave this up to the client. I offer lion cuts for cats that aren't able to maintain their long coats or have matting.
Pricing:
I currently charge $60/hour + a $25-$50 travel fee if you'd like me to come to you. Small and medium pets are usually done in 1.5-2 hours. Large dogs with lots of undercoat usually take 3-3.5 hours. Large doodles that need to be shaved usually take 3.5-4 hours. If your pet is anxious about the grooming process, please account for an extra 30 minutes to an hour. More time with your pet allows me to take things slower and work on building a positive relationship between them and the grooming process.
