Upon completion of these practices, many dogs will be able to go on to compete at the lower levels of ratting/quarry hunting sports such as Happy Ratters, Barn Hunt, and NASDA.
Based on Barn Hunt, NASDA (North American Sporting Detection Dog) game and Happy Ratters, dogs will search for live rats (secured in dog-proof boxes and/or tubes) in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings. If you have a dog that loves to chase squirrels and dig for mice this might be the perfect game for them! No experience is necessary and dogs that have already started on training will work at the level they are at. Dogs will work one at a time and wait their turns in their vehicles. Classes and workshops are held outdoors and indoors so dress appropriately and bring the necessary gear (water, coat, sunshade etc) to keep your dog comfortable. Participating dogs cannot be person reactive.
