Strong Mind, Strong Team: The Mental Game of Dog Agility
Agility isn’t just about handling skills and dog training—it’s about what’s happening in your head...Agility isn’t just about handling skills and dog training—it’s about what’s happening in your head before, during, and after the run. This workshop is designed for handlers who want to build their confidence, stay connected with their dog under pressure, and develop a resilient and positive mental game for competition.
We’ll explore practical strategies for managing nerves, dealing with pressure, and staying present in the ring so you can support your dog when it matters most. You’ll learn how to maintain connection and trust even when things don’t go as planned, and how to navigate disappointment in a way that helps you grow rather than spiral.
The workshop also focuses on creating effective pre-run routines to get you and your dog mentally ready, as well as post-run tools to reset, refocus, and carry lessons forward without lingering frustration. Whether you’re new to competing or an experienced handler looking to sharpen your mental edge, this session will help you show up calmer, clearer, and more confident as a team.
Working spots will include the lecture, reading material, Q&A, Sequencing and coursework on a jumping course where we will discuss route, teamwork and the mental game.
