Sports dogs are expected to run, jump, twist, pull and climb, often at top speeds! They are the canine equivalent of a track and field athlete or gymnast. However, unlike the human athlete, many sports dogs are not suitably warmed up or stretched prior to exercise. Often dogs are confined to a crate then go straight into class or their competition run with little or no advanced preparation. This inevitably increases risk of injury, and prevents dogs from performing at their best in their sport.
During this two hour workshop, Cassidy Barnert of Evolution Equine Sports Therapy will be teaching handlers and their dogs how to warm up and cool down your dogs, how to stretch and strengthen your dog safely, and how to tell when your dog is in need of a canine therapist.
