Train and Simple Dog Behaviour Consulting, formerly Know Dogs Allowed Canine Enterprises (Kate Woods, “Trainer”), provides dog training and behaviour information, advice, and instructions through online communications. It is my choice to accept their information, advice, and instructions, or not. I am solely responsible for the implementation of any training or behaviour intervention I pursue, whether with, without, or against the Trainer’s advice.
I understand and accept the inherent risk in interacting with animals, including but not limited to the risk of dog bites to myself or others. I recognize that training outcomes cannot be guaranteed, and that euthanasia is the only way to prevent my dog from biting. In choosing instead to attempt to train my dog, I agree to assume the associated risk of harm inflicted to myself, my dog, and any other person or dog interacting with my dog. I accept responsibility for identifying and implementing appropriate precautions at all times, which may include muzzling and leashing my dog in the presence of other people and animals.
The Trainer has made clear the importance of training techniques that reasonably prioritize the physical health, emotional welfare, and safety of my dog and people interacting with my dog. I agree, to the best of my ability, to avoid confrontational methods including the unnecessary use of physical force, reprimands, or intimidation to attempt to influence my dog’s future behaviour. I understand that confrontational methods may increase the risk of dog bites to myself and others, now or in the future. Even so, I understand that risk is dynamic, and I accept responsibility for any action I take or fail to take, should the need arise to mitigate immediate risk of harm to or by my dog.
The Trainer makes every reasonable effort to provide me with safe, sound, and responsible advice. Except to the extent of their minimum liability under relevant Nova Scotia legislation, I will not hold the Trainer responsible for any unintentional or negligent errors, omissions, or incorrect assertions. Should I feel as though any part of the training plan is unacceptable or difficult to use, I agree to inform the Trainer so that the Trainer may provide an alternative. I understand and agree that the recommendation of any other product or services by the Trainer is not a guarantee of my satisfaction with that product or service.
The Trainer may provide me with original handouts, videos, course modules, presentations, or other written or created works to support my learning. Unless otherwise stated, all such materials provided to me by the Trainer are protected by copyright belonging to Kate Woods or Train and Simple Dog Behaviour Consulting or another named author. I agree not to share, copy, or otherwise distribute any copyrighted materials provided by the Trainer without written permission from the author. Such works are legally protected from unauthorized use.
This contract is intended to be severable. If any part of it is unenforceable, that will not compromise the enforceability of any other part. The full and complete contract incorporates the current version of the Dog Training Service Policy or its successor, accepted and signed by the Client. A notice period of 60 days will be given for any material changes to the policy.
I, the undersigned, understand and agree to the Client Agreement and Waiver of Liability described above. I have had an opportunity to ask questions about it, and they have been answered to my satisfaction. I further recognize that legal information is not the same as legal advice and that it is my responsibility to seek professional legal advice regarding my situation if needed. I agree to resolve any claim related to this contract or the services described in this contract in the province in which the Trainer resides at the time the claim is made.
