This is where to get started. During our initial lesson we will do a thorough assessment, give you some basic skills to get you started and discuss the best package, based on your dog's training needs.
Imagine calling your dog's name and watching them turn mid-sprint, drop everything, and bolt straight back to you. No hesitation. No negotiation. Just pure, reliable recall—every single time.
That's the dream. And it's absolutely achievable.
In this 90-minute workshop, you'll learn the exact framework to build a bulletproof recall with your dog. We combine practical theory with hands-on training in a small group environment, so you get real feedback, real results, and the confidence to take this home and nail it.
This isn't about force or frustration. It's about teaching your dog that coming back to you is the best decision they'll ever make. Whether your dog's a distraction-chasing maniac or a selective listener, we'll build the foundation and the drive so recall becomes automatic. We will be using food and play, to figure out what motivates your dog the most, and building on that.
What you need to know:
* Your dog must be comfortable around other dogs (if your dog is reactive, check out our Reactivity Reset first)
* We use flat collars and leads only—no harnesses or halti's
* You'll complete some pre-workshop training to set you both up for success

Introductory Group Class - 30-45 Minutes

This introductory session is designed to help both of us determine if our training approach aligns with your goals and if your dog is ready for our group classes. We want to make sure we have the right fit, and you do too!
After the Introductory Class:
Once completed, you're welcome to join any of our 6-week Level 1 Obedience group classes and beyond.

To ensure a safe, productive, and supportive learning environment for everyone, we ask that you complete either:

My Herding Breed Essentials | Training for Suburban Life $450.00
Herding breeds are smart, energetic, and thrive when given a job. If we don't give them a job, they will become entrepreneurs (and you won't like what their chosen career path!)
Living in the suburbs often means their natural instincts—like chasing, controlling movement, and high-drive focus—don’t have an outlet. Without the right direction, this can lead to frustration, reactivity, or endless battles at home.
This specialised 6-week course channels your dog’s instincts into structured, practical activities that build focus, recall, impulse control, and calmness. The result? A dog who can switch off at home, handle the excitement of the outside world with confidence, and become the kind of reliable, calm companion you’ve always wanted.
If your dog hasn’t completed basic obedience (with us, or a reputable trainer) and have a reliable reward marker, I recommend 1 private lesson to ensure you are set up to get the most out of your class.
We will require that you complete some pre class training / homework. This a prerequisite to join the class, if you cannot commit to this, and send us the required video homework, we may postpone you to the next intake.
PRE-REQUISITE - You must have graduated MY FOUNDATIONS with My Dog Trainer to be eligible to enrol in My Next Step.
My Next Step – 6 x Small Group Classes (45 mins each)
Take your training to the next level with a focus on precision, confidence, and real-world reliability. In this course, you and your dog will strengthen key obedience behaviours while adding more distance, duration, and distraction—plus learn advanced skills to sharpen your communication and control.
Designed for graduates of My Foundations or those with existing training experience, this small group format allows for individualised coaching and targeted feedback to elevate your handling and deepen your bond with your dog.
