Scent: Focus: Alerts/Decisions (5 week)
Prerequisite: Scent Foundation: 2; your dog should be on odor and able to work unpaired...Prerequisite: Scent Foundation: 2; your dog should be on odor and able to work unpaired scent.
Decision-making for the handler and dog are the mainstay of a successful scent team. We will build a confident dog that can make a decision that odor has been sourced and indicate this decision to the handler. The handler, through experience and observation, can then be comfortable that the dog has alerted and call it as such.
By the end of this class, you will be able to continue implementing your individual step-by-step plan for continual improvement in this complicated but necessary skill.
