This foundation class helps dogs learn impulse control and eager attention to you while learning core skills important for their living successfully in our human world: calmly settling, responding to their name and returning enthusiastically to you when called, walking nicely on a leash, staying and waiting, dropping quickly into the "down" position, and politely greeting new people. Along the way, you and your dog will develop a fabulous partnership based on communication, cooperation, and trust. We can't wait to help you and your dog!
This is a refresher class for those who have been through our Puppy Kindergarten or Essential Life Skills (formerly called "Life Skills & Manners") program and need to get back into the swing of things! In this class, we cover all the core skills covered in our Introductory classes, reminding you how to apply our training techniques so your dog can learn quickly and happily. If you've let your training slide but want to re-establish a wonderful connection with your dog, this class is for you! Please note: This class does NOT include any of the equipment provided in our introductory classes. If you need your equipment replaced, it's for sale at our center for a separate fee.
This 6-session "continuing ed" class is for teenage and young adult dogs who have graduated from Puppy Kindergarten or Life Skills & Manners and want to continue with building stronger core behaviors with more duration and in settings with more distractions. The class focuses on building impulse control and attention across a wide variety of behaviors: leash walking, recall, greetings, stay/wait, leave it, jumping up, and more.
This 4-session class takes your training into the real world. Every week, the class meets in a different location with different distractions, challenges, and rewards from taking your training to a higher, "real world" level!
This 4-session short course is for dogs who pull when on leash, making walks a chore instead of a delight. With exercises and games that teach impulse control, relaxation, and focus, you and your dog will be able to feel comfortable and connected while out on a walk. Please note: this class is not for dogs who are “feisty fidos” on leash, those dogs who bark and lunge for other dogs. If that’s your dog, please see us about private training. We can help with that too!
This 4-session class is a refresher on the essentials for building a rapid, reliable recall. Through a variety of games and weekly exercises, your dog will discover that returning to you is better than chasing the proverbial “squirrel!”
Would you like to have more confidence in your dog’s behavior when enjoying the great outdoors? Do you want to build a better distance recall and strategy for outdoor challenges such as wildlife or approaching dogs? Avid hiker and dog trainer, Nancy Kerns, coaches on ways to bring more peace of mind and safety to your outdoor adventures.
Behavior Consult for Fear, Anxiety, Reactivity and Aggression $225.00
Initial behavior consultation to assess fear, anxiety, reactivity, and aggression. Based on this consultation and assessment, a training and behavior modification plan will be recommended. Please note, there are rarely "quick fixes" for fear, anxiety, reactivity, and aggression and we use a multi-dimensional approach including management environments, training new behaviors, and, most important, addressing underlying emotional states of your dog. This consult can be conducted in-person or virtually by Zoom or phone. Consult typically lasts 1.5 hours.
Shy Dog Social - Four (4) Consecutive Sessions $100.00
