Thank you for trusting us to be part of your training journey! These policies help ensure a smooth and safe experience for both ends of the leash.
Vaccination Policy
All dogs are required by law to have a current Rabies vaccination. Please send an up-to-date Rabies certificate to
[email protected] or upload it to your BusyPaws account prior to your first session. Failure to provide documentation may result in cancellation or rescheduling.
Equipment and Tool Policies
Required:
– A properly fitted flat collar or body harness
– 6 foot non-retractable leash
– High-value treats cut into small, pea-sized pieces
If you would like us to provide any of these supplies, please let us know at least 24 hours prior to your session. We're happy to help and can invoice you for the items.
Suggested:
- ID Tag
- A towel or mat (to be used as a "settle" cue)
- Plenty of water (for outdoor sessions)
Prohibited Equipment:
– Prong collars
– Choke chains
– E-Collars (also known as shock collars or stim collars)
– Citronella collars
- Slip leads
Where Sit Happens uses only force-free, humane training methods. Equipment designed to cause discomfort or fear is not permitted during training sessions.
Inclement Weather
In case of inclement weather conditions or any unforeseen emergencies that may lead to cancellation on Where Sit Happens’ behalf, we will contact participants as soon as possible. A makeup session will be scheduled.If bad weather or an emergency requires a change to your appointment, we will contact you by text or email as soon as possible.
For in-home sessions, please ensure your property is safely accessible during winter months. A makeup session will be arranged if necessary.
Payment Policies
Payment is required at the time of booking and can be made via credit card or Venmo. Appointments are not confirmed until payment is received.
Where Sit Happens reserves the right to pause or cancel services if payment is declined or if required health information is not provided. Pricing is subject to change without notice unless you are currently enrolled in a subscription.
Per Connecticut law, training services are subject to sales tax.
Cancellations
We aim to be as flexible as possible with cancellations. As a general rule, cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice may not be refunded or credited.
Photography and Video
Where Sit Happens may take photo or video during class or sessions to be used for instructional and marketing purposes including, but not limited to, one-on-one sessions, group classes, webinars, social media, print materials and in-person presentations.
Participants grant the absolute right and permission to copyright, use, re-use, publish, and republish videos, photographic portraits or pictures of you, your pets, and/or children, including those under 18 years of age, taken during animal behavior consultations, training sessions, classes, and in relation to other animal-behavior contexts.
The images may be included in whole or in part without restriction as to changes and the images may be exhibited with my own name or a fictitious name. The photos and videos may be used for advertising, marketing, educational, trade, or any other purposes whatsoever.
Behavior Safety Protocols
In some behavior cases, we may require starting with a virtual session and/or specific safety measures be in place prior to your trainer’s arrival to ensure a safe and productive session. These may include, but are not limited to:
– Crates or pens
– Tethers
– Leashes
– Muzzles (when appropriate and properly fitted)
We understand every home and dog is different. Your trainer will work with you based on your existing equipment and layout to find a safe, effective setup.
If a minimum level of safety cannot be achieved upon arrival, Where Sit Happens reserves the right to cancel or reschedule the session at the trainer’s discretion. Sessions canceled for safety reasons may not be eligible for refund or credit.
Disclosure of Aggression and Bite History
To keep our members and trainers safe, we require the full disclosure of any bite history, attempted bites and similar incidents or hazardous tendencies of your pet prior to booking a session.
Any harm caused by aggressive behavior will be the dog owner’s responsibility. Dog owner agrees to indemnify and hold Where Sit Happens harmless against and from any and all claims, damages, costs and expenses, arising from dog owner failing to disclose any relevant history or from any act or negligence on behalf of dog owner.
Disclaimer of Guarantee
Where Sit Happens provides science-based training and personalized guidance to help you and your dog succeed. However, behavior change depends on a wide range of factors including, but not limited to:
– The dog’s health and medical status
– The dog's genetic makeup
– The consistency of training and follow-through at home
– The environment and history of the dog
– The severity and duration of the behavior
Because every dog and situation is unique, we cannot guarantee specific results or timelines. That said, we’re committed to supporting you every step of the way with honest feedback, customized plans, and compassionate coaching.
