Beginner Agility (Level 2/3)
Our Level 2/3 Split Class combines students recently graduating from our Agility Foundations class with...Our Level 2/3 Split Class combines students recently graduating from our Agility Foundations class with those that have completed the Beginner Agility Level 2 program. We offer a dynamic training environment where each team works at their own skill level while benefiting from shared energy and motivation. For Level 2 Students: At this stage, teams begin preparation work for contact obstacles such as the teeter, dog walk, and A-frame. The nose touch targeting behavior introduced in Level 1 is systematically transferred to the dog walk and A-frame, building precision and confidence. Elements of the teeter are introduced gradually to ensure safety and comfort. Dogs and handlers move station-to-station throughout the class to maximize training time and focus on different skills. Teams will also start building short sequences of tunnels and jumps, learning how to link obstacles together and improve handler-dog communication. Because multiple dogs are working on the floor simultaneously, strong focus and attention to the handler are essential for success. For Level 3 Students: For handlers moving up into this level the focus will be on learning handling techniques and body language to support the dogs in short sequences of jumps and tunnels. During this program the dogs will continue to have individual training time on the teeter, weave poles, dog walk and A frame with emphasis on allowing each dog to progress at their own pace, recognizing individual sensitivities exhibited. As the dogs become proficient and confident on these obstacles, they will be added into the sequence and handling portions of the course.
