Over the course of 8 weeks, we will visit a variety of dog-friendly locations throughout southeastern Connecticut while building the foundation skills necessary for success in everyday life. This class focuses heavily on engagement, neutrality, leash manners, boundary setting, confidence building, and learning how to observe distractions calmly and successfully. Whether your goal is a dog that can accompany you to local parks, outdoor events, pet-friendly stores, or simply enjoy everyday outings with less stress, Summer School 101 will help you build the skills needed to get there. Each week you will receive an email regarding each classes location details, allowing dogs to gain valuable experience in new environments while receiving hands-on coaching and support. Locations throughout the session may include local parks, hiking trails, outdoor shopping areas, and pet-friendly businesses such as Bluff Point State Park, Washington Park, Mystic Village, Poquonnock Plains Park, Sheep Farm, Mystic River Park, Haley Farm, and Tractor Supply (Waterford, CT). Location details for the following week's class will be provided after each session. Suitable for dogs 6 months and older. No prior training experience is required.
